Nothing Attracts The Dumb Comments Like Sarah Palin News

Like flies to honey. You betcha!

This article is no big deal. Sarah Palin is speaking at a college in California. There was a controversy over how much it cost to have her speak there, plus the university understandably was originally reluctant to let the media cover the event, further embarrassing the school by being associated with her special brand of nitwittedness.

It's a big deal to me, however, because this sort of story attracts the wingiest of the wingnuts. Okay, so wingiest isn't a word, but it should be. We could use it to describe this fellow, who has the following to say about people who don't agree with Sarah Palin's [sarcasm]brilliant[/sarcasm] rhetoric:

Typical hate filled, socialist totalitarian. We have the second ammendment to deal with idiots like you.

Yeah, sorry, but....

First of all, the second amendment (with ONE m, genius), was NOT written so that we can protect ourselves from idiots typing dumb crap on the Internet (I won't repeat the comment that this person is replying to, but it was particularly nasty no matter which side of the coin you're on. Still, this is a stupid response).

Second of all, here is the definition of totalitarianism, via Wikipedia:

Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a political system where the state, usually under the control of a single political person, faction, or class, recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible.[2] Totalitarianism is generally characterised by the coincidence of authoritarianism (where ordinary citizens have no significant share in state decision-making) and ideology (a pervasive scheme of values promulgated by institutional means to direct the most significant aspects of public and private life).[3]
Totalitarian regimes or movements maintain political power through an all-encompassing propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that is often marked by personality cultism, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of speech, mass surveillance, and widespread use of state terrorism.

Propaganda? Personality cultism? Gee, good thing those terms don't apply to Sarah Palin! *rolleyes* You know what this calls for? If you said, "a good dose of CAPS LOCK, please", you are correct!

SHE IS NO DIFFERANT THEN ANY OTHER POLITICIAN MONEY MONEY MONEY AND TO HELL WITH THE PEOPLE THEY ARE FOOLS LOOK AT HOW EASY IT IS FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND ME THE GREAT FEMINAZI TO GET RICH LIEING TO THE PEOPLE --THEY ARE SO EASY TO FOOL --LOL-MONEY LOOK AT ALL MY MONEY--WHO CARES ABOUT ALL THAT TOXIC DIRT THAT IS GOING TO SEEP INTO AMERICAS FRESH WATERS I WILL HURRY AND GET THESE FOOLS MONEY AND MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY--GREEDY ALL OF THEM --MONEY MY MONEY--

This person may be right, but no one will know. CAPS LOCK does that to a person, you know.

This one is my favorite. Misspell for the win!

...You Oil freaks are now Satin's Minions..

I guess one really can be a slave to fashion. Huh. Oh well. Makes me think of this old CD cover of Tori Amos':

And on that note (no pun intended), I bid you good night.
